MEDITATION AS MEDICINE:

Cultivating a Core of Well-being in Difficult Times

How would you like to experience positive inner states regardless of circumstances? Monica Elden's Meditation as Medicine series helps you develop the core inner strengths that are foundational to well being. Evidence-based practices are grounded in science. You learn to use your mind to restructure your brain which changes how you experience your life.

These daily practices are for anyone on the journey of self-discovery and empowerment who wants to take charge of their well being. These practices are also powerful medicine for those living with chronic health conditions. Guided imagery has been shown to reduce pain, stress, anxiety, depression, and improve immune function. Several practices are targeted specifically for health care professionals, or anyone who cares for others.

Recent breakthrough research in neuro-plasticity has revealed that we can retrain our brains for happiness, confidence, resilience, and overall well-being. Significant changes in the neural structure of our brain occur through brief periods of practice multiple times a day. As you create new neural pathways, positive experiences like inner peace and calm, become lasting traits. As you build new neural networks, you will be able to access these traits and experience the benefits with less time.

These practices were developed over 10 years of teaching mind-body medicine course for a major health care organization combined with over 20 years as a psychotherapist working with individuals and businesses for well being and effectiveness.

Gratitude

The work of Chris Germer and Kristin Neff, Mindful Self Compassion (MSC), has influenced my thinking on healing. I feel a deep appreciation for my friend and colleague Linda Graham who first introduced me to MSC. Both Linda’s and Rick Hanson’s work on resilience has been important in the design of my work which has helped me and my clients to make lasting change. All of these great teachers offer many resources on their websites.

I am grateful to Andrea Lieberstein who many years ago hired me and asked me to create meditations on the spot in response to the needs of participants in the moment. I owe the development of my guided meditation skills to her vision and holding me to a higher standard. What initially seemed a challenge quickly became a life long passion.

The musicians featured on some of the tracks have supercharged these meditations, transforming them into beautiful and heartfelt tools for growth and healing. You can buy Blue’s beautiful Native American flute music directly from him at bluefluteman@gmail.com or at CDbaby: https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/blueflutemanand David Lieberstein’s soothing and heartfelt piano tunes can be purchased on CDbaby: https://store.cdbaby.com/Artist/DavidLieberstein

These meditations are possible by my producer and friend, Bruce Berger, who came to me with this vision. He has a wonderful ear and if you are fortunate enough to work with him, you will find yourself both calm and creatively alive in his presence. He’s also a terrific musician: www.RebbeSoul.com
